Ballymoney is a 35-acre working farm with masses of animals, including many rare breeds: Dexter cattle, Dorset Horn and Gotland Pelt sheep, and Saddleback pigs. Also featured is a Ponui Island donkey. Domestic animals at Ballymoney include Mabel a fox terrier, Baxter the golden retriever, and Kipper the cat.

There is a quince walkway through to a pond, also a knot garden, and there are various pergolas and summerhouses around the garden. "Tuscany" is a covered barbeque area by the tennis court with covered seating for about 40 people, and ideal for garden tours, lunches and small weddings.

The garden was effectively non-existent when we moved here in 1980, and we planted lots of shelter and hedges to break the Canterbury 'wind'. Once established, camellias, rhododendrons, old roses, perennials and bulbs were then planted. There are lots of woodland areas with self seeded birches and oaks, under-planted with trilliums and hostas.

The pond is host to plenty of waterfowl, including black swans, white peacocks and many ducks. A variety of hens and bantams provide our eggs, and you may like to visit our commercial planting of chestnuts, walnuts and quinces.

A potager garden and orchard provides our vegetables and fruit (all spray free), and our beef, lamb, pork and ducks are all also home produced. Hundreds of trees are planted each year, providing food, shelter and firewood.
